The theme and essence of this album, Symphonic Stradivarius, is " Environment". 12 composers were invited to create a new work for the London Symphony Orchestra with Davide Alogna violin with the theme of this recording centering around the idea of "Environment". The album offers a beautiful and diverse offering of each composer's expression of that idea " Environment"and what it meant to them. Composer Spaniola's says of his A Solitary Tree, "A Solitary Tree, is an evocative image, be it in an urban oasis, in a scarred countryside — a remnant of a once vibrant forest, or in a desolate, forbidding corner of the planet.". Avant offers insights into her work, Nani Lahaina~Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra, "Nani Lahaina is based on the winds and fires of August 2023 that took over 100 lives and burned to the ground the historic whaling town of Lahaina,Maui Hawaii. This event impacted me deeply because as a young adult, I had lived and worked in that beautiful town Lahaina Maui and grew to love the Hawaiian people, heritage and music. This music is an outpouring of emotion, love and a sense of hope and renewal for the people of Lahaina, Maui." Deborah Kavasch tells us of her work, The Peace of Wild Things: A Reflection, "I was inspired by the poem, The Peace of Wild Things, by environmentalist Wendell Berry, whose words describe how today’s despair and fears can be freed by observing the peace of creatures in the natural world who have no “forethought of grief,” coming into the presence of still water and “day-blind” stars, and resting in the grace of world.". Several contemporary composers assemble in this release to showcase the diverse influences and creative capabilities of modern classical composition. Recorded at the historic LSO St. Lukes, this repertoire offers musical insight into the environmental aspects of our world, all united by a world class ensemble, celebrated soloist, and an instrument that has been passed down through centuries of lauded performers: a “1690s ‘Stevens’ Stradivari” belonging to the very first group of red varnished Violins ever made.

2. SIRENS OF THE SALISH SEA: V. SIRENS OF THE SALISH SEA~Ode
JOURNEY TO SERENITY: TRACK #5
Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Anna Kislitsyna piano, Miran Vaupotic conductor
Sirens of the Salish Sea~ Orchestral Suite (in 5 movements).
V. Sirens of the Salish Sea ~Ode (to George), is the final movement of the orchestral suite Sirens of the Salish Sea. The original work, a Quintet Suite, was composed during the Spring and Summer of 2020 amidst the events taking place throughout our nation and globally and expresses the sentiments of the composer as she watched the events unfold during that momentous time in history. This piece is the composer's heartfelt emotion as she watched the events on May 25, 2020 and is a "soundtrack" of that day. It begins with a questioning sound of uncertainty leading to sirens, chaos and darkness. That all ends with silence for a few brief moments followed by lyrical, angelic music of peace and heaven. Sirens of the Salish Sea is a metaphor, a reflection of that time, expressed through music and the essence of the Sea. The Salish Sea is the body of water near Seattle where the composer lives.
